How does the custom processing work?
You or a farmer will bring the animal to us on a Tuesday morning. (This is our slaughter day) After we have slaughtered, we will let it hang for two weeks in our coolers. We then bring the carcass to our cutting floor, and cut and package everything to your custom preferences. Once it is all ready to go, we give you a call and you are free to pick the meat up whenever!
I do not own any cattle or hogs. Can I still get one processed?
Yes! All you need to do is purchase the portion of the animal that you are buying from a farmer. They will bring the animal in for you, and we treat it as if it were yours. Unless you have worked out payment methods with the farmer, please have a check for him/her as well as your payment method for the custom processing.
I do not know any farmers to buy from.
No problem. Give us a call at 605-997-2881 and we can find a suitable animal from local farmers.
Why do you let the carcass hang that long?
Letting it age in our cooler provides a better flavor for the meat. If you do not wish to let it hang for that long, you can let us know when you give us your cutting instructions.
How much will it cost me?
There isn’t an easy answer for this question as there are a lot of variables that come into play. The weight of the animal, the current market, the quality of the animal, and what you get done can all lower or raise your total cost. Additionally, if you need to purchase the animal from a farmer, there will be the additional cost of paying him/her.
